Feeling the Sound, Without the Rattle

A client had invented a sound chair built around a series of transducers running through parts of the chair — so that instead of just hearing the audio playing, a seated participant feels it as vibration moving through the body.

The one piece giving them trouble was the foot rest panel. The original mounting design let the vibration shake the panel loose, creating an unwanted rattle instead of a clean, felt vibration.

The fix started with sourcing the right hardware: researching and selecting wire rope vibration dampener mounts built to absorb exactly this kind of movement. From there, the original mount plate was redesigned to fit the new dampeners, and the metal shop fabricated the updated parts.
