Overriding Limiting Design Choices

Washing machine anti-lock insert

This project began when I was doing the wash. I wanted to add the soap to the water before putting in the clothes. However, this washing machine model had a door that locked as soon as the cycle was started. So the clothes had to be added with the soap all at once. I wanted to keep the soap from concentrating onto one area of my clothes. I designed and printed out this insert to bypass the locking mechanism so that the cycle would run but the door remained unlocked. This was a permanent fix that was still working when I moved out of that apartment.
